Rippling Integration: Leave and Time Tracking in Chat – Rippling in Binom

Short answer

How to connect Rippling to Binom: check leave balances, submit leave requests, and log time. Available on request.

The Rippling integration with Binom helps employees with leave and time tracking: your AI employee checks leave balances, submits leave requests, and logs hours worked. Rippling is available on request in your Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Rippling.

What Binom can do in Rippling

Here, Binom means your AI employee. Once Rippling is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is marked: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Rippling).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Leave Balances, types, requests Create and edit a request
Time tracking Timesheets, time entries Create, edit, delete an entry
Employees Employees, teams, departments, levels Create and edit departments
Compensation Compensation No

Can Binom submit a leave request in Rippling?

Yes. Binom checks the balance ("List Leave Balances"), confirms the type ("List Leave Types"), and creates the request ("Create A New Leave Request").

Logging time

The employee says how long they worked, and Binom creates a time entry ("Create A New Time Entry").

What access you will need

Connection method: API token. The token is created in the API Tokens app in Rippling. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Rippling page in your dashboard.

How to get the Rippling integration

Rippling is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Rippling" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Rippling card.
  2. The page "Rippling integration for assistant" will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access is needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Rippling.
  3. Click "Request integration". "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Rippling page.
  5. Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect Rippling" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status changes to "Connected". If "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete. Check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Rippling

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any action."

  1. On the Rippling page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom describes what it is about to do and waits for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Workers", "List Leave Balances", "Create A New Leave Request", and "Create A New Time Entry" are enough. Add change and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Rippling.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask for your leave balance, and compare it with Rippling.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Rippling data in its answers

What to check: the Rippling status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "List Leave Balances").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Rippling data.

"Could not record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Rippling).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."

Nothing more is needed: the request is saved, and you will get a notification when Rippling can be connected.

"Reconnect required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Rippling page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status shows "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Rippling), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Rippling" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. To change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, go back to More integrations and open Rippling again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin level or to connect Rippling themselves. More details: team access levels.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Rippling

On the Rippling page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Rippling?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, the integration will need to be connected again and the access details entered again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to integrate Rippling?

No. You request Rippling in Integrations → More integrations, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
