How to connect Mailchimp to Binom: move subscribers from conversations into your audience, with tags and segments. Available on request.
The Mailchimp integration with Binom collects subscribers directly in the conversation: the AI employee adds a customer to an audience with a subscription status, updates their details, assigns tags, and adds them to segments. Contacts from chats reach your mailings without exports or manual entry. Mailchimp is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Mailchimp.
What Binom can do in Mailchimp
Here, Binom refers to your AI employee. After you connect Mailchimp, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Mailchimp).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Audiences | Audiences (subscriber lists) | No |
| Subscribers | Audience members | Adding with a subscription status, editing, deleting |
| Tags | Member tags | Adding and removing tags |
| Segments | Segments | Adding and removing a member from a segment |
| Campaigns | Campaigns, automations, surveys | No |
How to add a subscriber to Mailchimp from a chat
Allow the "Add Audience Member" action. When a customer agrees to receive mailings, Binom adds their email to the right audience with a subscription status. Tags ("Update Member Tags") help mark where the subscriber came from and what they were interested in, for example "from chat" or "interest: delivery."
Collecting subscribers in a conversation: what it looks like
- The customer receives a reply and agrees to receive news or discounts.
- Binom adds them to the audience ("Add Audience Member").
- It assigns tags based on the conversation topic ("Update Member Tags") or adds them to a segment ("Add Segment Member").
After that, the customer receives your mailings and automations set up in Mailchimp.
How to get the Mailchimp integration
Mailchimp is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account.
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Mailchimp" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Mailchimp card.
- The page "Mailchimp integration for assistant" will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Mailchimp.
- Click "Request integration." The message "Request sent. You will be notified when the integration is available" appears, and the button changes to "Requested."
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Mailchimp page.
- Click "Connect," complete the steps in the "Connect Mailchimp" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…," the status will change to "Connected." If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute," click "Check again."
How to choose what Binom can do in Mailchimp
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."
- On the Mailchimp page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To get started, "List Audiences", "Add Audience Member" and "Update Member Tags" are enough. Add the update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Mailchimp.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and opt in to the mailing with a test email. Check that the address appears in the Mailchimp audience with the tags.
- Delete the test address from the audience after checking.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Mailchimp data in its answers
What to check: the Mailchimp status is "Connected", and the needed actions are ticked (for example "Add Audience Member").
What to do: tick the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Mailchimp data.
"Could not save the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Mailchimp).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."
Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Mailchimp can be connected.
"Needs reconnection"
What this means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Mailchimp page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Mailchimp yourself. More details: team access levels.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send the message "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Mailchimp
On the Mailchimp page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Mailchimp?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the access details again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
