Iterable integration: profiles, events and workflows from chats – Iterable in Binom

Short answer

How to connect Iterable to Binom: profiles and events from conversations, subscriptions, launching workflows. Available on request.

The Iterable integration with Binom passes data from conversations into your marketing: your AI employee updates a customer profile, sends an event or purchase, subscribes the customer to a mailing list, and triggers a journey. Iterable is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Iterable.

What Binom can do in Iterable

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Iterable is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Iterable).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Users A user by email or ID, messages sent to them Updating data, merging, deleting
Subscriptions and lists Lists, number of members Subscribing, unsubscribing, adding to a list
Events and purchases No Event, purchase, cart
Messages No Email, SMS, push, in-app message
Journeys and campaigns Journeys, campaigns, templates Triggering a journey, creating a campaign and template
Catalogs Catalogs and items Creating and editing items

Can a chatbot pass an event from a conversation to Iterable?

Yes. Binom updates the customer profile ("Update User Data") and sends an event ("Track An Event") that your journeys can use.

Triggering a journey and subscribing

Binom subscribes the customer ("Subscribe A Single User") and triggers the right journey ("Trigger A Journey (workflow)"), for example a welcome series.

What access you will need

Connection method: API key. You will need a server-side Iterable API key. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Iterable page in your account.

How to get the Iterable integration

Iterable is available on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Iterable" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Iterable card.
  2. The "Iterable integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Iterable.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Iterable page.
  5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connect Iterable" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected." If the message "Confirmation hasn't arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Iterable

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard says it directly: "Select the actions the assistant may trigger. Until something is selected, it has access to none of them."

  1. On the Iterable page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom describes what it plans to do and waits for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To get started, "Get A User By Email (query Parameter)", "Update User Data", "Track An Event" and "Subscribe A Single User" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Iterable.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and leave a test email. Check the profile and the event in Iterable.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Iterable data in its answers

What to check: the Iterable status is "Connected" and the required actions are selected (for example "Update User Data").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Iterable data.

"Could not record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Iterable).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."

You don't need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Iterable can be connected.

"Reconnect required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Iterable page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Iterable) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Iterable" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Iterable again.

"You don't have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Iterable yourself. Learn more: access levels in a team.
How to tell it's resolved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Iterable

On the Iterable page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Iterable?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other questions people ask

Can Binom unsubscribe a customer in Iterable?

Yes, with the action "Unsubscribe A Single User".

Do I need a developer to integrate Iterable?

No. You request Iterable in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
