How to connect Canva to Binom: find a design, export it as PDF or image, leave comments for the designer. Available on request.
The Canva integration with Binom helps you work with designs right in the conversation: your AI employee finds the design you need, exports it as a PDF or image, and leaves a comment for the designer. Canva is available on request in your Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Canva.
What Binom can do in Canva
Binom here means your AI employee. Once Canva is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Canva).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Designs | Designs and their pages | Creating, exporting to a file |
| Comments | Discussions and replies | Creating a discussion and a reply |
| Folders and assets | Folders, uploaded assets | Creating, moving, uploading |
| Brand templates | Brand templates | Publishing a template |
Can Binom export a design from Canva?
Yes. Binom finds the design ("List Designs"), starts the export ("Create Export Job"), and gets the finished file ("Get Export Job"), for example a price list or a menu in PDF.
Comments for the designer
Binom leaves a comment on the design with the edits from the conversation ("Create Comment Thread").
What access you will need
You can choose between these connection methods: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your service account and confirm access); Admin API for administrators. You will need an integration in the Canva Developer Portal. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Canva page in your dashboard.
How to get the Canva integration
Canva is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Canva" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Canva card.
- The "Canva integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Assistant here means your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Canva.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Canva page.
- Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect Canva" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Canva
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it cannot use any action."
- On the Canva page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, "List Designs", "Get Design", "Create Export Job", and "Get Export Job" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Canva.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new chat with your Binom, for example via a public chat link, ask it to export a test design, and check the file.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Canva data in its answers
What to check: the Canva status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get Design").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Canva data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Canva).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."
You do not need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Canva can be connected.
"Reconnect required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Canva page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Canva), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Canva" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will notify you when it launches." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription prices page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Canva again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Administrator access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Administrator access level or to connect Canva themselves. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or, in the Binom Tutor chat, send "I want to talk to a person". Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Canva
On the Canva page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Canva?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and enter the access details again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Other common questions
Do I need a developer to integrate Canva?
No. You request Canva in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
