Lattice Integration: Goals and Progress in Chat – Lattice in Binom

Updated 5 min read 01 / 34
Short answer

How to connect Lattice to Binom: employee goals and tasks, and goal progress updates. Available on request.

The Lattice integration with Binom helps employees with their goals: your AI employee shows employee goals and tasks and logs goal progress updates. Lattice is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Lattice.

What Binom can do in Lattice

Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect Lattice, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Lattice).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Goals Goals, progress updates Creating and editing a goal, updating progress
Reviews Review cycles, reviews, participants No
Feedback Feedback, updates No
People Employees, direct reports, tasks, departments No

Can Binom log goal progress in Lattice?

Yes. Binom shows an employee's goals ("Get User Goals") and logs a progress update ("Create Goal Update") based on what the employee tells it.

Employee tasks

Binom shows an employee's tasks in Lattice ("Get User Tasks"), for example unfinished reviews.

What access you will need

Connection method: API key. The key is created in Admin > Platform > API Keys. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Lattice page in your account.

How to get the Lattice integration

Lattice is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Lattice" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Lattice card.
  2. The "Lattice integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Lattice.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Lattice page.
  5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connect Lattice" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Lattice

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account says this directly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any actions."

  1. On the Lattice page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To start, "List Users," "Get User Goals," "Create Goal Update," and "Get User Tasks" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Lattice.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask about your goals, and compare the answer with Lattice.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Lattice data in its answers

What to check: the Lattice status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get User Goals").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Lattice data.

"Could not record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Lattice).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."

Nothing else is needed: your request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Lattice can be connected.

"Reconnect needed"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant is not using it."
What to do: open the Lattice page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Lattice), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connect Lattice" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will notify you when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, go back to More integrations and open Lattice again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Lattice themselves. More: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is resolved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Lattice

On the Lattice page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Lattice?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Common questions

Do I need a developer to integrate Lattice?

No. You request Lattice in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
