How to connect Sage HR to Binom: leave balances, requests, and who is out today. Available on request.
The Sage HR integration with Binom helps employees manage time off: your AI employee checks the balance, submits a request, and tells them which colleagues are out of the office today. Sage HR is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Sage HR.
What Binom can do in Sage HR
Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect Sage HR, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In your account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Sage HR).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Time off | Balances, policies, requests, who is out | Create a request |
| Employees | Employees, job titles, teams | Create, update, terminate |
| Documents | Documents, categories | Upload, update, delete |
| Goals | Goal progress | No |
| Onboarding | Task categories | Create onboarding and offboarding tasks |
Can Binom submit a time off request in Sage HR?
Yes. Binom checks the balance ("Get Employee Time Off Balances"), confirms the type of leave ("List Leave Policies"), and creates a request ("Create Leave Request").
Who is out of the office
An employee asks who is out today, and Binom shows the list ("List Employees Out Of Office").
What access you will need
Connection method: API key. An administrator in Sage HR enables API access. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Sage HR page in your account.
How to get the Sage HR integration
Sage HR is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Sage HR" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Sage HR card.
- The "Sage HR integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Sage HR.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Sage HR page.
- Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connect Sage HR" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status changes to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Sage HR
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can use. Until you select something, it cannot use any action."
- On the Sage HR page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom describes what it plans to do and waits for your response.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.
To start, "List Employees," "Get Employee Time Off Balances," "List Leave Policies," and "Create Leave Request" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom change data in Sage HR.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask for your leave balance, and compare it with Sage HR.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Sage HR data in its answers
What to check: the Sage HR status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example, "Get Employee Time Off Balances").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to know it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Sage HR data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Sage HR).
How to know it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."
You do not need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Sage HR can be connected.
"Reconnect required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Sage HR page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to know it is fixed: the status is "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Sage HR), and a screenshot of the message.
How to know it is fixed: the "Connect Sage HR" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the instructions how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Sage HR again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Sage HR themselves. For more details, see access levels in a team.
How to know it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not solved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom and the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Sage HR
On the Sage HR page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Sage HR?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and enter the access details again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" appears.
