TalentLMS Integration: Course Enrollment and Progress in Chat – TalentLMS in Binom

Short answer

How to connect TalentLMS to Binom: course search, enrollment, status and progress tracking. Available on request.

The TalentLMS integration with Binom helps with training employees and customers: your AI employee finds a course, enrolls people in it, and reports their progress. TalentLMS is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → TalentLMS.

What Binom can do in TalentLMS

Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect TalentLMS, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in TalentLMS).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Courses Courses, categories, fields Create, delete
Enrollments Status and progress in a course Enroll, unenroll, reset progress
Users Users, search by email Create, update, status
Groups and branches Groups, branches Add users and courses

Can Binom enroll someone in a course in TalentLMS?

Yes. Binom finds the user by email ("Get User By Email"), selects a course ("List Courses"), and enrolls the user in it ("Enroll User To Course").

Course progress

When a user asks how much is left, Binom reports their status and progress in the course ("Get User Status In Course").

What access you will need

Connection method: API key. Only a TalentLMS super administrator can generate the API key. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the TalentLMS page in the dashboard.

How to get the TalentLMS integration

TalentLMS is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, type "TalentLMS" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the TalentLMS card.
  2. The "TalentLMS integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in TalentLMS.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will be notified when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the TalentLMS page.
  5. Click "Connect", complete the steps in the "Connect TalentLMS" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in TalentLMS

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any actions."

  1. On the TalentLMS page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Courses", "Get User By Email", "Enroll User To Course", and "Get User Status In Course" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in TalentLMS.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask it to enroll a test user in a course, and check the enrollment in TalentLMS.

Possible problems

Binom does not use TalentLMS data in its answers

What to check: the TalentLMS status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get User By Email").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using TalentLMS data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (TalentLMS).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will be notified when TalentLMS can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the TalentLMS page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (TalentLMS), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect TalentLMS" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will notify you about the launch." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription prices page. To learn how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open TalentLMS again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect TalentLMS yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect TalentLMS

On the TalentLMS page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect TalentLMS?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and enter the access details once more." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Common questions

Do I need a developer for the TalentLMS integration?

No. You request TalentLMS in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
