Chatbot for Salesforce: Leads, Cases and Meetings from Chats – Salesforce Integration in Binom

Updated 6 min read 17 / 28
Short answer

How to connect Salesforce to Binom: leads and contacts from conversations, support cases, answers from the knowledge base, meetings and tasks. Available on request.

The Salesforce integration with Binom passes customers from conversations into your CRM: the AI employee finds or creates a lead and a contact, opens a case, schedules a meeting, and answers using knowledge base articles. Salesforce is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Salesforce.

What Binom can do in Salesforce

Here, Binom refers to your AI employee. After you connect Salesforce, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Salesforce).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Leads and contacts Leads, contacts, accounts, search, history Create and update
Deals Deals, products in a deal, stages, forecast Create and update
Cases Cases, comments, statuses Create, update, comment
Knowledge base Knowledge base articles, solutions Attach a solution to a case
Activities Tasks, events, overdue tasks Task, meeting, complete task
Orders and price books Orders, line items, price books, prices Create and update
Field service Work orders, service visits, technicians Create a work order and visit, assign a technician

Can the chatbot create a lead in Salesforce?

Yes. Binom searches for the person among leads ("Search Leads") and contacts ("Search Contacts") and, if they are not there, creates a lead ("Create Lead").

Customer case and knowledge base answer

Binom searches for an answer in the knowledge base ("Search Knowledge Articles"). If the question requires an employee, it opens a case ("Create Case") and later reports its status ("Get Case").

Meeting and task for the manager

Binom schedules a meeting ("Schedule Meeting") and creates a task ("Create Task") based on the conversation.

What access you will need

Connection method: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your service account and confirm access). You will need an External Client App in Salesforce. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Salesforce page in the dashboard.

How to get the Salesforce integration

Salesforce is available on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Salesforce" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Salesforce card.
  2. The "Salesforce integration for assistant" page shows the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Salesforce.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Salesforce page.
  5. Click "Connect", complete the steps in the "Connect Salesforce" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete: check again in a minute.", click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Salesforce

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until you select something, it has access to none of them."

  1. On the Salesforce page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your response.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To get started, "Search Leads", "Create Lead", "Create Case", and "Search Knowledge Articles" are enough. Add update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Salesforce.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, and leave test contact details. Check the lead in Salesforce.
  • Delete the test lead after checking.

Possible issues

Binom does not use Salesforce data in its answers

What to check: the Salesforce status is "Connected" and the required actions are selected (for example "Create Lead").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Salesforce data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Salesforce).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration temporarily unavailable: your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when Salesforce can be connected.

"Reconnect needed"

What this means: "The service no longer accepts saved access details, so the assistant can't use them."
What to do: open the Salesforce page on More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it's fixed: the status shows "Connected".

"Couldn't start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, email support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Salesforce), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it's fixed: the "Connect Salesforce" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we'll let you know when it launches." For details on what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. To learn how to change your plan, read the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Salesforce again.

"You don't have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Salesforce themselves. For more information, see access levels for your team.
How to tell it's fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, email support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Salesforce

On the Salesforce page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Salesforce?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you'll need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Can Binom create a deal in Salesforce?

Yes, using the "Create Opportunity" action.

Do I need a developer to set up the Salesforce integration?

No. You request Salesforce in Integrations → More integrations, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
