How to connect Mercury (Mercury xRM) to Binom: candidate from a résumé, conversation history, job openings. Available on request.
Integrating Mercury (Mercury xRM) with Binom helps a staffing agency: the AI employee tells candidates about job openings, creates a candidate from a submitted résumé, and logs the conversation in the contact history. Mercury is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Mercury.
What Binom can do in Mercury
Binom here means your AI employee. Once Mercury is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In your account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Mercury).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Job openings | Job openings, shortlists | Creating and updating in batches |
| Candidates and contacts | Candidates, contacts, résumés, skills, experience | Creating from résumés, updating, documents |
| Activities | Activities and notes on a contact | Creating |
| Clients | Client companies | Creating and updating |
| Placements | Placements, rates, checks | Checks and documents |
Can the chatbot create a candidate in Mercury from a résumé?
Yes. Binom uploads the candidate's résumé, and Mercury creates the candidate record from its data ("Upload CV To Create New Candidate (parse)").
Conversation history
Binom logs the conversation in the contact history ("Create Activity On A Contact") and adds a note ("Create Annotation On A Contact").
Job openings
Binom tells the candidate about job openings ("List Vacancies").
What access you will need
Connection method: API key. Mercury issues the subscription keys and tenant ID when you connect. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Mercury page in your account.
How to get the Mercury integration
Mercury is available on request: first the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Mercury" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Mercury card.
- The "Mercury integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you on a priority basis." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Mercury.
- Click "Request integration." "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested."
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button appears on the Mercury page.
- Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Mercury" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…" the status changes to "Connected." If "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again."
How to choose what Binom can do in Mercury
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."
- On the Mercury page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save." The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, "List Vacancies", "Get Vacancy By ID", "Upload CV To Create New Candidate (parse)" and "Create Activity On A Contact" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom change data in Mercury.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new chat with your Binom, for example via a public chat link, send a test résumé, and check the candidate in Mercury.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Mercury data in its answers
What to check: Mercury status is "Connected," and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get Vacancy By ID").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save."
How to tell it is resolved: "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Mercury data.
"Could not save the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Mercury).
How to tell it is resolved: "Requested" appears on the button.
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been saved."
Nothing else to do: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when Mercury can be connected.
"Reconnect required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Mercury page in More integrations, click "Reconnect," and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status is "Connected."
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Mercury), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connecting Mercury" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
On the page you will see "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the subscription plans and pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the instructions how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, go back to More integrations and open Mercury again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin level or to connect Mercury themselves. More: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is resolved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not solved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Mercury
On the Mercury page, click "Disconnect." The "Disconnect Mercury?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, the integration will need to be connected again and the access details entered again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" appears.
Common questions
Do I need a developer to integrate Mercury?
No. You request Mercury in Integrations → More integrations, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
