TalentLyft Integration: Candidates and Stages from Chat – TalentLyft in Binom

Updated 6 min read 03 / 19
Short answer

How to connect TalentLyft to Binom: job openings, candidates, application status and stages. Available on request.

The TalentLyft integration with Binom supports recruiting: your AI employee shares information about job openings, creates a candidate, and moves an application to the next stage when the recruiter asks. TalentLyft is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → TalentLyft.

What Binom can do in TalentLyft

Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect TalentLyft, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in TalentLyft).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Jobs Jobs, tags, hiring requests Creating and editing
Candidates Candidates, applications, activity Creating, editing, stage, rejection
Pipelines Pipelines, rejection reasons Creating and editing
Events and forms Events, forms No

Can a chatbot add a candidate to TalentLyft?

Yes. Binom shows open jobs ("List Jobs") and creates a candidate ("Create Candidate") using details from the conversation.

Application stage

Binom reports the application status ("Get Application") and moves it forward when the recruiter asks ("Move Candidate To Stage").

What access you will need

Connection method: access token. The token is created in your TalentLyft account settings. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the TalentLyft page in your account.

How to get the TalentLyft integration

TalentLyft is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "TalentLyft" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the TalentLyft card.
  2. On the "TalentLyft integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in TalentLyft.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom team member will contact you about setup. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the TalentLyft page.
  5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connect TalentLyft" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in TalentLyft

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account says this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any action."

  1. On the TalentLyft page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To start, "List Jobs", "Create Candidate", "Get Application" and "Move Candidate To Stage" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom change data in TalentLyft.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, submit a test application, and check the candidate in TalentLyft.

Possible problems

Binom does not use TalentLyft data in its answers

What to check: the TalentLyft status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "Create Candidate").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using TalentLyft data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (TalentLyft).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been saved."

Nothing more is needed: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when TalentLyft can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What this means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant cannot use it."
What to do: open the TalentLyft page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (TalentLyft), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect TalentLyft" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. To learn how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open TalentLyft again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect TalentLyft themselves. More: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect TalentLyft

On the TalentLyft page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect TalentLyft?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to set up the TalentLyft integration?

No. You request TalentLyft in Integrations → More integrations, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
