Checkr Integration: Background Check Invitations and Report Timelines – Checkr in Binom

Short answer

How to connect Checkr to Binom: sending a background check invitation to a candidate and the expected report date. Available on request.

The Checkr integration helps recruiters with candidate screening: your AI employee sends the candidate an invitation to complete the check and tells you when the report is ready. Checkr is available on request in your Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Checkr.

What Binom can do in Checkr

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Checkr is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Checkr).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Candidates Candidates Create and edit
Invitations Invitations Create and cancel
Reports Reports, expected ready date, tags Create and edit a report
Packages Screening packages No
Re-screenings Subscriptions, continuous screenings Create, edit, cancel

Can Binom send a candidate a Checkr screening invitation?

Yes. Binom selects a screening package ("List Packages") and sends the candidate an invitation ("Create Invitation") with a form for their details.

When the report will be ready

A recruiter asks about timing, and Binom gives the expected report ready date ("Get Report ETA").

What access you'll need

Connection method: API key. Keys for production and test environments are different. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Checkr page in your dashboard.

How to get the Checkr integration

Checkr is available on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Checkr" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Checkr card.
  2. The "Checkr integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows what access is needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Checkr.
  3. Click "Request integration". You'll see "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available.", and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Checkr page.
  5. Click "Connect", complete the steps in the "Connect Checkr" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation hasn't arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Checkr

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."

  1. On the Checkr page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes data, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your confirmation.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Packages", "List Candidates", "Create Invitation" and "Get Report ETA" are enough. Add actions that change or delete data when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Checkr.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, send a test invitation in the Checkr test environment, and check it.

Possible issues

Binom does not use Checkr data in its answers

What to check: that the Checkr status is "Connected" and that the needed actions are ticked (for example "List Candidates").
What to do: tick the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Checkr data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Checkr).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Checkr can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Checkr page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status shows "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Checkr) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Checkr" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Checkr again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Checkr yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send the message "I want to talk to a human" in the chat with Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Checkr

On the Checkr page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Checkr?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a programmer to integrate Checkr?

No. You request Checkr in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
