Resend Integration: Customer Emails and Unsubscribes from Chats – Resend in Binom

Updated 6 min read 05 / 26
Short answer

How to connect Resend to Binom: emails based on conversation results, delivery checks, contacts, unsubscribes. Available on request.

The Resend integration with Binom sends emails to customers after a conversation: the AI employee sends an email, checks whether it was delivered, keeps contacts up to date, and removes an address from mailings at the customer's request. Resend is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Resend.

What Binom can do in Resend

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Resend is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Resend).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Emails Sent emails Sending an email and a batch of emails, rescheduling and canceling scheduled ones
Contacts Contacts by email, properties Creating and editing
Broadcasts Broadcasts and segments Creating, sending, scheduling
Suppressions List of suppressed addresses Adding and removing
Domains Sending domains Adding and verifying a domain

Can the chatbot send an email through Resend?

Yes. Binom sends an email ("Send Email"), for example with materials from the conversation, and later checks it ("Retrieve Email") if the customer says the email did not arrive.

Unsubscribing at the customer's request

If a customer asks not to be contacted anymore, Binom adds their address to suppressions ("Add Suppression").

What access you will need

You can connect in one of two ways: an API key, or sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you log into your service account and confirm access). A key can be limited to sending emails only and to a single domain. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Resend page in the dashboard.

How to get the Resend integration

Resend is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Resend" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Resend card.
  2. The "Resend integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Resend.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration becomes available" will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Resend page.
  5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Resend" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute," click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Resend

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Check the actions the assistant is allowed to trigger. Until you check at least one, the assistant has access to none."

  1. On the Resend page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes data, Binom will describe what it intends to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To start, "Retrieve Contact", "Create Contact", "Send Email", and "Add Suppression" are enough. Add the actions that change or delete data when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Resend.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, leave a test email address, and ask it to send materials. Check the email.

Possible issues

Binom does not use Resend data in its answers

What to check: the Resend status is "Connected", and the needed actions are checked (for example "Create Contact").
What to do: check the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Resend data.

"Couldn't record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Resend).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."

Nothing else to do: the request is saved, and you will get a notification when Resend can be connected.

"Reconnect required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Resend page under More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status is "Connected".

"Couldn't start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Resend), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connect Resend" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For plan details, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Resend again.

"You don't have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Resend yourself. More details: access levels in the team.
How to tell it's resolved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Resend

On the Resend page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Resend?" dialog will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to set up the Resend integration?

No. You request Resend in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team configures the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
