How to connect Lightspeed Retail X-Series to Binom so the AI consultant can answer questions about products and stock across your store locations.
The Lightspeed Retail X-Series integration connects your store's point-of-sale system with Binom: your AI employee answers customers' questions using Lightspeed data on products and stock at your retail locations. Customers get an accurate answer about availability, and your sales staff are less distracted by repetitive questions. To connect, go to Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Lightspeed Retail X-Series.
What Binom can do in Lightspeed Retail X-Series
Binom here means your AI employee. Once Lightspeed is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Lightspeed).
Lightspeed Retail X-Series is a cloud point-of-sale and inventory management system for retailers with multiple locations. Through the integration, Binom works with products and their stock levels by location. The full list of 57 actions, labeled read, write, and delete, is shown in the "Actions" list on the integration page in the dashboard: before connecting, review which of them your store needs.
Can an AI assistant check whether a product is in stock at a store?
Yes. A customer asks in the chat whether a product is available at a particular store, and Binom answers based on Lightspeed stock levels at the time of the question. This takes "do you have it in stock" calls off your sales staff on the shop floor.
Which stores is the integration suited for
- Multi-location retailers where customers ask about availability at a specific store.
- Stores that sell both offline and online and want to answer from the same data.

How to connect Lightspeed Retail X-Series to Binom
- Open Integrations → More integrations.
- Enter "Lightspeed Retail X-Series" in the "Search integrations" field and open the Lightspeed Retail X-Series card.
- The "Lightspeed Retail X-Series integration for assistant" page opens. Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access is needed to connect, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Lightspeed Retail X-Series.

If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again". You do not need to connect again.
How to choose what Binom can do in Lightspeed Retail X-Series
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any action."
- On the Lightspeed Retail X-Series page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it intends to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, tick the read actions (read) for products and stock balances. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Lightspeed.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, and ask about stock of a product at one of your locations. Compare the answer with Lightspeed.
- Ask about a product that is out of stock and make sure Binom does not promise it.

The Lightspeed Retail X-Series integration connects your store's point-of-sale system with Binom: an AI employee answers customers' questions about products and stock in your outlets, maintains customer records, and checks gift cards and store credit. Customers get an accurate answer about availability, and your sales staff are less distracted by repetitive questions. Lightspeed Retail X-Series is available on request in your Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Lightspeed Retail X-Series.
What Binom can do in Lightspeed Retail X-Series
Binom here refers to your AI employee. After you connect Lightspeed, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Lightspeed).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Products | Products, categories, brands, images | Create, edit and delete products, category hierarchy, brands |
| Inventory | Stock levels, stock adjustments, deliveries | Stock adjustments, create and edit deliveries |
| Outlets and registers | Outlets, registers, payment methods, taxes | None |
| Customers | Customers, customer store credit | Create, edit and delete a customer |
| Sales | Sales | Create and edit a sale |
| Gift cards | Gift cards, search for a card by number | None |
| Promotions and prices | Promotions, price lists | Create a promotion |
| Suppliers | Suppliers | Create and edit a supplier |
Can the AI consultant check product availability in the store?
Yes. Binom finds the product ("List Products") and checks stock levels ("List Inventory Records") across outlets ("List Outlets") at the moment the question is asked. Customers immediately learn which store in the chain has the product they need, and your staff don't have to field calls asking "do you have this in stock?"
Gift cards and store credit
Yes. The "Find Gift Card" action locates a card by its number. Binom sees a customer's store credit through the action "List Store Credits For A Given Customer". Customers learn they can pay with a card or store credit without coming into the store.
Customers in the Lightspeed database
Binom finds a customer ("List Customers") or creates a new one ("Create A New Customer") using contact details from the conversation, so that staff see them on their next purchase. Binom sees current promotions through the action "List Promotions" and tells the customer about them.
If your online storefront runs on WooCommerce, connect it too: chatbot for WooCommerce.
