How to connect Egnyte to Binom: find a document, share a link with a password or expiry date, add comments. Available on request.
The Egnyte integration with Binom sends clients the files they need right in the conversation: your AI employee finds the document in Egnyte and creates a link with the right access. Egnyte is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Egnyte.
What Binom can do in Egnyte
Binom here means your AI employee. Once Egnyte is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In your account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Egnyte).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Files and folders | Files, folders, search, statistics | Creating a folder, moving, copying, uploading |
| Links | Links to files and folders | Creating and deleting a link |
| Comments | Comments | Adding and deleting |
| Users and groups | Users, groups, permissions | Creating and editing |
| Trash | Deleted files | Restoring and deleting |
Can a chatbot send a file from Egnyte?
Yes. Binom finds the document ("Search Files And Folders (v2)") and creates a link ("Create Link (v1)") with password protection, restricted to recipients, or with an expiry date.
Comment on a file
Binom adds a comment to the document, for example that the client requested a new version ("Add Comment").
What access you will need
Connection methods to choose from: OAuth 2.0 through an app; OAuth 2.0 for an internal app. You will need your Egnyte domain address. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Egnyte page in your account.
How to get the Egnyte integration
Egnyte is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Egnyte" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Egnyte card.
- On the "Egnyte integration for assistant" page you will see the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Egnyte.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Egnyte page.
- Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect Egnyte" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, check again in a minute.", click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Egnyte
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. Your account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any action."
- On the Egnyte page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.
To start, "Search Files And Folders (v2)", "Get File Or Folder Metadata (v2)", and "Create Link (v1)" are enough. Add the change and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Egnyte.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask it to send a test file, and check the link.
Possible issues
Binom does not use Egnyte data in its answers
What to check: the Egnyte status is "Connected" and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get File Or Folder Metadata (v2)").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Egnyte data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Egnyte).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."
Nothing else is needed: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when Egnyte can be connected.
"Reconnection required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Egnyte page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Egnyte), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Egnyte" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Egnyte again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin level or to connect Egnyte themselves. More: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not solved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Egnyte
On the Egnyte page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Egnyte?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, the integration will need to be connected again and the access details entered again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
What people also ask
Do I need a developer for the Egnyte integration?
No. You request Egnyte in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
