Pardot (Account Engagement) Integration: Prospects and Lists from Chats – Pardot in Binom

Short answer

How to connect Pardot to Binom: prospects by email from conversations, lists, tags and emails. Available on request.

The Pardot (Account Engagement) integration with Binom passes customers from conversations into your B2B marketing: the AI employee creates or updates a prospect by email, adds them to a list, sets a tag, and sends an email. Pardot is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Pardot.

What Binom can do in Pardot

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Pardot is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the account, each action is marked: read (Binom only looks at the data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Pardot).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Prospects Prospects Create or update by email, edit, tags
Lists Lists and members Add a prospect to a list and remove them
Emails Emails, templates, email statistics Send an email to a prospect and emails to a list
Campaigns Campaigns, engagement programs Campaign tags
Content Forms, landing pages, files, dynamic content Create

Can the chatbot add a prospect to Pardot?

Yes. Binom creates or updates a prospect by email ("Upsert Prospect By Email") and adds them to the right list ("Add Prospect To List").

Tag and email after the conversation

Binom sets a tag based on the topic of the conversation ("Add Tag To Prospect") and sends an email ("Send One-to-One Email").

What access you will need

Connection method: sign in via OAuth 2.0 (you sign in to your service account and confirm access). You will need an External Client App in Salesforce. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Pardot page in your account.

How to get the Pardot integration

Pardot is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Pardot" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Pardot card.
  2. The "Pardot integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access is needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Pardot.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Pardot page.
  5. Click "Connect", complete the steps in the "Connecting Pardot" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Pardot

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it has access to none of them."

  1. On the Pardot page, check the boxes next to the actions you need in the Actions list. The Filter actions field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes records, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your approval.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To get started, "List Lists", "Upsert Prospect By Email", "Add Prospect To List", and "Add Tag To Prospect" are enough. Add the actions that change and delete records when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Pardot.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, and leave a test email. Then check the prospect and the list in Pardot.
  • Delete the test prospect after checking.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Pardot data in its answers

What to check: that the Pardot status is "Connected" and that the needed actions are checked (for example "Upsert Prospect By Email").
What to do: check the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Pardot data.

"Couldn't record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Pardot).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."

Nothing else is needed: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when Pardot can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Pardot page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status shows "Connected".

"Couldn't start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Pardot), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connect Pardot" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription pricing page. To learn how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, go back to More integrations and open Pardot again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Pardot yourself. More details: access levels in the team.
How to tell it's resolved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem isn't resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Pardot

On the Pardot page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Pardot?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the credentials." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to set up the Pardot integration?

No. You request Pardot in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
