Short answer

How to connect Insightly to Binom: leads and contacts from conversations, deals, meetings, tasks and notes. Available on request.

The Insightly integration with Binom passes requests from chats into your CRM: the AI employee creates a lead or contact, opens a deal, schedules a meeting, sets a task, and adds a note. Insightly is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Insightly.

What Binom can do in Insightly

Here, Binom means your AI employee. After you connect Insightly, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Insightly).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Leads Leads, search, statuses and sources Create and update
Contacts and organizations Contacts, organizations, search Create and update
Deals Deals, pipelines, stages Create and update
Meetings and tasks Calendar events, tasks Create and update
Notes Notes Create and update
Products and projects Products, projects Create and update

Can the chatbot create a lead in Insightly?

Yes. Binom checks whether the lead already exists ("Get Leads (Filtered)") and creates a new one ("Add Lead") with the source and status you use.

Meeting and task after the conversation

Binom schedules a meeting ("Add Event"), sets a task ("Add Task"), and adds a note ("Add Note").

What access you will need

Connection method: API key. You will also need the region (pod) of your Insightly account, for example na1 or eu1. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Insightly page in the dashboard.

How to get the Insightly integration

Insightly is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Insightly" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Insightly card.
  2. The "Insightly integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Insightly.
  3. Click "Request integration". "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Insightly page.
  5. Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect Insightly" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete. Check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Insightly

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it has no access to anything."

  1. On the Insightly page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes to or deletes a record, Binom will describe what it intends to do and wait for your confirmation.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "Get Leads (Filtered)", "Add Lead", "Add Task" and "Add Note" are enough. Add the actions for editing and deleting when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Insightly.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and leave test contact details. Check the lead in Insightly.
  • Delete the test lead after checking.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Insightly data in its answers

What to check: that the Insightly status is "Connected" and that the needed actions are checked (for example "Add Lead").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is solved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Insightly data.

"Could not record the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Insightly).
How to tell it is solved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Insightly can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What this means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Insightly page under More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is solved: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Insightly) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is solved: the "Connect Insightly" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Insightly again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Insightly yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it's fixed: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Insightly

On the Insightly page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Insightly?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
