Clover Integration: Orders, Stock and Customers from Chat – Clover on Binom

Updated 6 min read 05 / 08
Short answer

How to connect Clover to Binom: product availability, orders with line items and discounts, customers, and payments. Available on request.

The Clover integration with Binom connects the chat to your point of sale: the AI employee answers questions about products and stock, creates orders with line items and discounts, maintains customer records, and sees payments and refunds. Clover is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Clover.

What Binom can do in Clover

Here, Binom refers to your AI employee. Once Clover is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Clover).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Products Products, categories, modifiers, tags Creating and editing products, stock levels, categories
Orders Orders, line items, order types, payments for an order Creating an order, line items, discounts, editing
Customers Customers Creating and editing a customer, phone number, email, and address
Payments Payments, refunds, cash transactions No
Discounts and taxes Discounts, tax rates Creating a discount and a rate
Employees Employees, shifts, roles Creating employees and shifts

Can the chatbot place an order in Clover?

Yes. Binom creates an order ("Create Custom Orders"), adds line items ("Create A New Line Item"), and, if needed, applies a discount ("Create A Discount On An Order").

Product availability in the point-of-sale system

Binom views products and their stock levels ("Get All Inventory Items") and tells the customer whether the item they need is available.

What access you will need

Connection method: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your service account and confirm access). Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Clover page in the dashboard.

How to get the Clover integration

Clover is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Clover" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Clover card.
  2. The "Clover integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Clover.
  3. Click "Request integration". "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration becomes available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Clover page.
  5. Click "Connect," complete the steps in the "Connecting Clover" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected." If "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete; check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again."

How to choose what Binom can do in Clover

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant may perform. Until you select something, it has access to none of them."

  1. On the Clover page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To get started, "Get All Inventory Items", "Create Custom Orders", "Create A New Line Item", and "Get A List Of Customers" are enough. Add update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Clover.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and place a test order. Check it in Clover.
  • Delete the test order after checking.

Possible issues

Binom does not use Clover data in its answers

What to check: the Clover status is "Connected", and the necessary actions are selected (for example "Create Custom Orders").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Clover data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Clover).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

Nothing more is needed: the request is saved, and you will get a notification when Clover can be connected.

"Reconnect required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Clover page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status shows "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Clover), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Clover connection" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. For how to change or upgrade your plan, see how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Clover again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Administrator access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Administrator access level or to connect Clover yourself. More details: team access levels.
How to tell it's resolved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or, in the Binom Tutor chat, type "I want to talk to a person". Include the Binom name, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Clover

On the Clover page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Clover?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Can Binom see the payment for an order in Clover?

Yes. Binom reads payments for an order using the "Get All Payments For An Order" action.

Do I need a developer to integrate Clover?

No. You request Clover in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
