How to connect PayPal to Binom: take payment for an order in the conversation, send invoices, set up reminders and mark payments as received. Available on request.
Taking PayPal payments in the Binom chat: your AI employee creates a PayPal order for payment, issues and sends the invoice, reminds about payment, and marks receipt. Clients pay the usual way, and you don't need to issue invoices manually. PayPal is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → PayPal.
What Binom can do with PayPal
Here, Binom refers to your AI employee. After PayPal is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in PayPal).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Orders | Creating an order for payment, changing, authorizing and capturing a payment |
| Invoices | Invoices | Draft, edit, delete, send, remind, cancel, invoice number |
| Invoice payments | No | Marking an invoice as paid and as refunded |
| Subscriptions | No | Subscription plan and customer subscription |
| Products | No | Product in the PayPal catalog |
| Payouts | No | Batch payout to multiple recipients |
Can you accept a PayPal payment directly in the chat?
Yes. Binom creates a PayPal order ("Create Order"), the client confirms the payment in PayPal, and then Binom captures the payment ("Capture Order Payment"). The payment is confirmed on PayPal's side, and card or account details never enter the conversation. Binom checks the order status with the "Get Order" action.
PayPal invoices from the conversation
- Binom gets the next invoice number ("Generate Invoice Number") and creates a draft ("Create Draft Invoice").
- Sends the invoice to the client ("Send Invoice").
- If payment is delayed, sends a reminder ("Send Invoice Reminder").
- When the client has paid another way, marks the payment ("Record Invoice Payment").
How to get the PayPal integration
PayPal is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "PayPal" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the PayPal card.
- The "PayPal integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in PayPal.
- Click "Request integration". "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the PayPal page.
- Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connecting PayPal" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If "Confirmation hasn't arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in PayPal
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The workspace states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant may trigger. Until something is selected, it has access to none of them."
- On the PayPal page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any create, update or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To get started, "Create Order", "Get Order", "Create Draft Invoice" and "Send Invoice" are enough. Add update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in PayPal.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and ask it to create a small test invoice. Then check the invoice in PayPal.
- Cancel or delete the test invoice after checking it.
Possible problems
Binom does not use PayPal data in its answers
What to check: that the PayPal status is "Connected" and the required actions are selected (for example, "Create Order").

What to do: open the PayPal page under More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
