How to connect OneNote to Binom: answers from your note pages, and conversation summaries saved as new pages. Available on request.
The OneNote integration with Binom turns your team's notes into knowledge for your AI employee: Binom answers from OneNote pages and saves conversation summaries as new pages. OneNote is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More Integrations → OneNote.
What Binom can do in OneNote
Binom here means your AI employee. Once OneNote is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In your account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in OneNote).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Pages | Pages, content, previews | Create, copy, delete |
| Sections | Sections and section groups | Create and copy |
| Notebooks | Notebooks, recent notebooks | Create and copy |
| Users | Users and their notebooks | None |
Can Binom answer from OneNote notes?
Yes. Binom finds the right page ("List All Pages"), reads its content ("Get Page Content"), and answers the employee.
Conversation summaries in OneNote
Binom saves a summary of a conversation or an agreement with a client as a new page in the right section ("Create Page").
What access you will need
Connection method: sign in with OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your service account and confirm access). You will need an app registered in Microsoft Entra ID. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the OneNote page in your account.
How to get the OneNote integration
OneNote is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More Integrations".
- Open Integrations → More Integrations, enter "OneNote" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the OneNote card.
- The page "OneNote integration for assistant" will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in OneNote.
- Click "Request integration". "Request sent. You will get a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the OneNote page.
- Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect OneNote" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in OneNote
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. Your account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it cannot use any of them."
- On the OneNote page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, "List All Sections", "List All Pages", "Get Page Content", and "Create Page" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in OneNote.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask about what is written on a OneNote page, and compare the answer.
Possible problems
Binom does not use OneNote data in its answers
What to check: the OneNote status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "List All Pages").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is solved: "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using OneNote data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (OneNote).
How to tell it is solved: "Requested" appears on the button.
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been recorded."
Nothing more is needed: your request is saved, and you will get a notification when OneNote can be connected.
"Reconnect needed"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the OneNote page in More Integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is solved: the status is "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (OneNote), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is solved: the "Connect OneNote" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription pricing page. For how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More Integrations and open OneNote again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect OneNote yourself. More: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is solved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not solved, write to support@binomai.com or ask in the Binom Tutor chat with "I want to talk to a person". Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect OneNote
On the OneNote page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect OneNote?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Other common questions
Do I need a developer for the OneNote integration?
No. You request OneNote in the Integrations → More Integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
