Airship Integration: Push Notifications and Segments from Chat – Airship at Binom

Updated 6 min read 13 / 26
Short answer

How to connect Airship to Binom: scheduling push notifications, segments, templates. Available on request.

The Airship integration with Binom helps marketing inside the app: the AI employee schedules a push notification, creates an audience segment, and finds message templates on the team's request. Airship is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Airship.

What Binom can do in Airship

Binom here refers to your AI employee. After you connect Airship, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Airship).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Notifications Scheduled notifications Create, edit, pause, resume, cancel
Segments Segments Create and edit
Lists Static lists, tag and attribute lists Create and upload
Templates Message templates Create and edit
Automation Pipelines Create

Can Binom schedule a push notification in Airship?

Yes. The employee describes the notification in the chat, and Binom creates it at the right time ("Create Scheduled Notification").

Audience segment

Binom creates a segment ("Create Segment") and shows existing ones ("List Segments") so the notification reaches the right people.

What access you will need

Connection method: login and password (Basic Auth). You will need the App Key and Master Secret, and Airship administrator rights. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Airship page in the dashboard.

How to get the Airship integration

Airship is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Airship" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Airship card.
  2. The "Airship integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Airship.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Airship page.
  5. Click "Connect", complete the steps in the "Connecting Airship" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Airship

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. While nothing is selected, it has no access to any of them."

  1. On the Airship page, check the actions you need in the Actions list. The Filter actions field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Segments", "List Templates", "Create Scheduled Notification" and "Create Segment" are enough. Add edit and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Airship.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and ask it to schedule a test notification to a test segment. Check it in Airship.
  • Delete the test notification after checking it.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Airship data in its replies

What to check: that the Airship status is "Connected" and the needed actions are selected (for example "List Templates").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Airship data.

"Couldn't save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Airship).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Airship can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Airship page under More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status shows "Connected".

"Couldn't start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Airship) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connecting Airship" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Airship again.

"You don't have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Administrator access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Administrator access level or to connect Airship yourself. Learn more: access levels in a team.
How to tell it's resolved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or, in the chat with Binom Tutor, type "I want to talk to a person". Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Airship

On the Airship page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Airship?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to integrate Airship?

No. You request Airship in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
