How to connect Bill.com to Binom: customers, invoices sent by email, payment status, and vendor bills. Available on request.
The Bill.com (BILL) integration with Binom moves agreements from the conversation into finances: the AI employee creates a customer and an invoice, emails it and reports the payment status, and also manages supplier bills. Bill.com is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Bill.com.
What Binom can do in Bill.com
Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect Bill.com, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it has access to. In the dashboard, each action is marked: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Bill.com).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Customers and invoices | Customers, customer invoices | Create and edit, email an invoice, archive |
| Suppliers | Suppliers, supplier bills, documents | Create and edit, attach a document to a bill |
| Payments | Supplier payments | Create and cancel a scheduled payment |
| Reference data | Products and services, payment terms, chart of accounts, departments, locations | Create and edit |
Can a chatbot send an invoice through Bill.com?
Yes. Binom finds or creates a customer ("Create Customer"), creates an invoice ("Create Invoice") and emails it to the customer ("Send Invoice").
Invoice status on a customer's request
Binom finds the invoice ("Get Invoice") and tells the customer its status.
What access you will need
You can choose between connection methods: session login (developer key, organization ID, user email and password); or a sync token for users who sign in via SSO. Actions are performed with the rights of the BILL user under whom the connection is made. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Bill.com page in the dashboard.
How to get the Bill.com integration
Bill.com is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Bill.com" in the "Search integrations" field and open the Bill.com card.
- On the "Bill.com integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Bill.com.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Bill.com page.
- Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Bill.com" window and click "Done." After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete; check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Bill.com
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard says this directly: "Check the actions that the assistant may trigger. While nothing is checked, it has no access to any of them."
- On the Bill.com page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that creates, changes or deletes a record, Binom will describe what it intends to do and wait for your answer.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, "List Customers", "Create Customer", "Create Invoice" and "Send Invoice" are enough. Add actions that change or delete data when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Bill.com.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, and arrange a test purchase. Check the customer and the invoice in Bill.com.
- Archive the test invoice after checking.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Bill.com data in its answers
What to check: that the Bill.com status is "Connected" and that the needed actions are checked (for example "Create Customer").
What to do: check the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Bill.com data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Bill.com).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."
You do not need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Bill.com becomes available to connect.
"Reconnection required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Bill.com page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Bill.com) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Bill.com" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Bill.com again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Bill.com yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it's solved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or, in the chat with Binom Tutor, send "I want to talk to a person". Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Bill.com
On the Bill.com page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Bill.com?" dialog will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the credentials again." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Other common questions
Do I need a developer to integrate Bill.com?
No. You request Bill.com in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
