How to connect Twelve Data to Binom: exchange rates and currency conversion, stock and cryptocurrency prices, calendars. Available on request.
The Twelve Data integration with Binom gives your AI employee up-to-date market data: currency exchange rates, stock and cryptocurrency prices, quotes, and a dividend calendar, right within the conversation. Twelve Data is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Twelve Data.
What Binom can do with Twelve Data
Here, Binom refers to your AI employee. Once Twelve Data is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Twelve Data).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Prices and quotes | Current price, quote, closing price, history | No |
| Currencies | Currency pair exchange rate, amount conversion | No |
| Companies | Profile, financial reports, dividends, analyst ratings | No |
| Calendars | Dividends, financial reports, IPOs, splits | No |
| Indicators | Technical indicators (RSI, MACD, moving averages, and others) | No |
Can the chatbot give a currency exchange rate through Twelve Data?
Yes. Binom provides the exchange rate ("Get Exchange Rate") or converts an amount into another currency right away ("Get Currency Conversion").
Stock or cryptocurrency price
Binom finds the instrument ("Get Symbol Search") and provides the current price ("Get Price") or quote ("Get Quote").
What access you will need
Connection method: API key. The key is issued immediately upon registration and works within the limits of your Twelve Data plan. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Twelve Data page in the dashboard.
How to get the Twelve Data integration
Twelve Data is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Twelve Data" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Twelve Data card.
- On the "Twelve Data integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Twelve Data.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Twelve Data page.
- Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Twelve Data" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete. Check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Twelve Data
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."
- On the Twelve Data page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To get started, "Get Symbol Search", "Get Price", "Get Exchange Rate" and "Get Currency Conversion" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Twelve Data.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new chat with your Binom, for example via the public chat link, ask for the dollar to euro exchange rate, and compare it with Twelve Data.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Twelve Data in its answers
What to check: the Twelve Data status is "Connected", and the needed actions are ticked (for example "Get Price").
What to do: tick the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Twelve Data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Twelve Data).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."
You do not need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will get a notification when Twelve Data can be connected.
"Reconnect required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved credentials, so the assistant does not use them."
What to do: open the Twelve Data page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what is included in each plan, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Twelve Data again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level, or to connect Twelve Data yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send the message "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Tutor. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Twelve Data
