Connect Shopify to Binom: an AI chatbot that answers with live products, prices, stock and order status, and handles orders, customers and refunds you allow.
A Shopify AI chatbot from Binom answers your customers using live store data: products, prices, stock, orders and customer records. Shoppers get accurate answers and order updates at any hour, and your team handles fewer routine questions. You connect the store in the Binom cabinet under Integrations → More Integrations → Shopify.
What the Shopify integration lets Binom do
Binom is your AI employee. After you connect Shopify, it calls store actions when a conversation needs store data. You decide which actions are allowed. In the cabinet, each action is marked read (Binom only looks at data), write or delete (Binom changes data in your store).
| Area | What Binom can read | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Products | Products, variants with price, SKU and options, product images, collections | Create and edit products, variants, images and collections |
| Stock | Inventory levels at each store location, list of locations | Adjust or set the stock quantity at a location |
| Orders | Orders with payment and fulfillment status, fulfillments, payment transactions | Create an order, update its note, tags, email or phone, cancel, close or reopen it, create a fulfillment |
| Draft orders | Draft orders | Create a draft order with items and a discount, edit it, convert it into a regular order |
| Customers | Customer records, search by email, name, phone or tag, saved addresses | Create and update customers and their addresses |
| Refunds | Refunds on an order, refund calculation before it is made | Create a refund (only for a payment that has been captured) |
| Discounts | Price rules | No |
| Abandoned checkouts | Abandoned checkouts with items, totals and recovery links | No |
Binom can also read and change custom fields (metafields) of products, customers and orders, and see the list of store staff.
Can an AI chatbot check Shopify order status?
Yes. With the order reading actions allowed, Binom retrieves the order from Shopify and tells the customer its payment status, fulfillment status and the fulfillments created for it. The answer comes from the store at the moment of the question, so it stays correct when the status changes.
If the customer asks to cancel an order or wants a refund, Binom can do it with the "Cancel Order", "Calculate Refund" and "Create Refund" actions, provided you ticked them.
AI sales assistant for Shopify: what it does in a conversation
- Finds products and variants and gives current prices and options.
- Checks stock at your locations before promising that an item is available.
- Prepares a draft order with the chosen items and a discount and, if allowed, converts it into an order.
- Creates or updates the customer record with the contact details the shopper gives in the chat.
Sales logic comes from the role of your Binom. For an online store, the Binom Online Seller role is built for consultations and orders.
AI customer service for Shopify
After a purchase, Binom answers "where is my order" questions with the current order status, updates the customer's saved addresses and contact details, and processes cancellations and refunds you allow. With "Ask before changing anything" switched on, every change is described first and runs only after an answer.
How to connect Shopify to Binom
- Open Integrations → More Integrations.
- Type "Shopify" in "Search integrations" and open the Shopify card.
- The page "Shopify integration for your assistant" opens. The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access the connection asks for, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Shopify.
- Click "Connect". The "Connect Shopify" window opens. Follow the steps in the window to give access to your store, then click "Done".
- The status changes to "Connecting…" and the page shows "Waiting for the provider to confirm the connection…". When Shopify confirms, the status becomes "Connected".
If the page shows "The connection has not been confirmed yet. It may still go through – check again in a moment.", click "Check again". You do not need to connect a second time.
Choose what Binom is allowed to do in Shopify
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The cabinet says it directly: "Tick the actions the assistant may call. Nothing is allowed until you do."
- On the Shopify page, tick the actions in the "Actions" list. Use "Filter actions" to find them by name, for example "List Products". The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing anything" switch. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom describes what it is about to do and waits for an answer before running it.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the change.
A practical start is "List Products", "List Inventory Levels", "List Orders", "Get Order" and "Search Customers". Add more write and delete actions when you are ready for Binom to change data in Shopify.
How to check that the Shopify integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and ask for the price and stock of a product. Compare the answer with your store.
- Ask about a real order and compare the status Binom gives with the order in Shopify.
- If you allowed write actions, ask Binom to create a test draft order and check that it appears in Shopify. Delete it afterwards.
