How to connect Zoho People to Binom: leave balance, public holidays, check-in and check-out, HR requests, time tracking. Available on request.
The Zoho People integration with Binom helps employees with HR questions: your AI employee checks leave balance and public holidays, records check-in and check-out, logs time, and creates HR requests. Zoho People is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Zoho People.
What Binom can do in Zoho People
Binom here means your AI employee. After you connect Zoho People, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In your account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Zoho People).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Leave | Leave types, records, balances | Cancel leave, add leave balance |
| Attendance | Check-ins, shifts | Record check-in and check-out |
| HR requests | Requests, categories | Create a request |
| Time tracking | Timesheets, time entries, projects | Time entry, timesheet |
| Employees and hiring | Employees, onboarding candidates, job openings | Create and edit |
Can Binom tell me my leave balance in Zoho People?
Yes. Binom shows days taken and the remaining balance ("Get Leave Booked And Balance Report") and answers questions about public holidays ("Get All Holidays (V2)").
Check-in and check-out
An employee writes in the chat that they have started or finished work, and Binom records a check-in ("Check In") or a check-out ("Check Out").
HR request
If a question needs HR, Binom creates a request in the right category ("Create Case").
What access you will need
Connection method: sign in with OAuth 2.0 (you sign in to your service account and confirm access). The connection is made by signing in to your Zoho People account. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Zoho People page in your account.
How to get the Zoho People integration
Zoho People is available on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Zoho People" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Zoho People card.
- The page "Zoho People integration for assistant" will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Zoho People.
- Click "Request integration." "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Zoho People page.
- Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connect Zoho People" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…," the status will change to "Connected." If you see "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again."
How to choose what Binom can do in Zoho People
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account says so clearly: "Select the actions the assistant can call. Until something is selected, it cannot use any of them."
- On the Zoho People page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save." The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To start, "Get Leave Booked And Balance Report," "Get All Holidays (V2)," "Check In," and "Create Case" are enough. Add write and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Zoho People.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask about your leave balance, and compare it with Zoho People.
Possible problems
Binom does not use Zoho People data in its answers
What to check: the Zoho People status is "Connected," and the needed actions are selected (for example "Get All Holidays (V2)").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save."
How to tell it is fixed: "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Zoho People data.
"Could not save the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Zoho People).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested."
"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been saved."
You don't need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Zoho People can be connected.
"Reconnect required"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Zoho People page in More integrations, click "Reconnect," and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected."
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Zoho People), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Zoho People" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. For how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Zoho People again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Zoho People themselves. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not solved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of your Binom and the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Zoho People
On the Zoho People page, click "Disconnect." The "Disconnect Zoho People?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and enter the access details again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Common questions
Do I need a developer for the Zoho People integration?
No. You request Zoho People in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
