Keka Integration: Leave, Work From Home and Holidays in Chat – Keka in Binom

Updated 6 min read 06 / 19
Short answer

How to connect Keka to Binom: leave balance, leave and work-from-home requests, public holidays. Available on request.

The Keka integration with Binom helps employees with HR questions: the AI employee tells them their remaining leave balance, submits leave or work-from-home requests, and shares information about public holidays. Keka is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Keka.

What Binom can do in Keka

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Keka is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Keka).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Leave Types, balances, requests, plans Creating a request
Remote work and business trips Work-from-home and travel requests Creating requests
Attendance Check-ins, shift policies, holidays Adding a check-in
Employees Employees, search by phone and email Creating and editing
Recruitment Job openings, candidates, interviews Creating a candidate, note

Can Binom submit a leave request in Keka?

Yes. Binom checks the balance ("List Leave Balances") and the leave type ("List Leave Types") and creates a request ("Create Leave Request").

Work from home and holidays

When an employee says they are working from home, Binom submits a request ("Create Work From Home Request"). Binom answers questions about public holidays using the company calendar ("List Holidays").

What access you will need

You can choose one of the connection methods: an API key, or OAuth 2.0 through the app portal. You will need the Client ID, Client Secret, the API key from the Keka admin panel, and your company subdomain. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Keka page in the dashboard.

How to get the Keka integration

Keka is available on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions on how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Keka" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Keka card.
  2. The page "Keka integration for assistant" will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows which access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Keka.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Keka page.
  5. Click "Connect," follow the steps in the "Connecting Keka" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…" the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Keka

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."

  1. On the Keka page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "Search Employees", "List Leave Balances", "Create Leave Request" and "Create Work From Home Request" are enough. Add the update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Keka.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask about your leave balance, and compare the answer with Keka.

Possible issues

Binom does not use Keka data in its answers

What to check: that the Keka status is "Connected" and that the needed actions are checked (for example "List Leave Balances").
What to do: check the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Keka data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Keka).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Keka can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Keka page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status shows "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Keka) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connect Keka" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Keka again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level, or to connect Keka yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem isn't resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send the message "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Keka

On the Keka page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Keka?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to integrate Keka?

No. You request Keka in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
