Adobe Learning Manager Integration: Course Enrollment in Chat – Adobe Learning Manager in Binom

Updated 6 min read 07 / 19
Short answer

How to connect Adobe Learning Manager to Binom: course search, enrollment and cancellation, and an employee's current enrollments. Available on request.

The Adobe Learning Manager integration helps employees with training: the AI employee finds a course, enrolls them in it, shows their current enrollments, and cancels an enrollment. Adobe Learning Manager is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Adobe Learning Manager.

What Binom can do in Adobe Learning Manager

Binom here refers to your AI employee. Once Adobe Learning Manager is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Adobe Learning Manager).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Courses Courses, programs, certifications, catalogs No
Enrollments User enrollments, grades Enroll, change, cancel, course review
Skills and badges Skills, interests, badges Skill interests
Users and groups Users, groups Create and change
Reports Export jobs Create export

Can Binom enroll an employee in a course in Adobe Learning Manager?

Yes. Binom searches for a course ("Query Learning Objects") and enrolls the employee ("Create User Enrollment"). If plans change, it cancels the enrollment ("Delete User Enrollment").

My courses

An employee asks what they are enrolled in, and Binom shows their enrollments ("List User Enrollments").

What access you will need

Connection method: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you sign in to your service account and confirm access). The app is registered by the Adobe Learning Manager integrations administrator. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Adobe Learning Manager page in the dashboard.

How to get the Adobe Learning Manager integration

Adobe Learning Manager is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Adobe Learning Manager" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Adobe Learning Manager card.
  2. On the "Adobe Learning Manager integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Adobe Learning Manager.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Adobe Learning Manager page.
  5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Adobe Learning Manager" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Adobe Learning Manager

An connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard says it plainly: "Select the actions that the assistant may perform. Until something is selected, it has no access to any of them."

  1. On the Adobe Learning Manager page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes data, Binom describes what it plans to do and waits for your response.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.

To start, "Query Learning Objects", "List User Enrollments", "Create User Enrollment" and "Delete User Enrollment" are enough. Add the update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in Adobe Learning Manager.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask it to find a course, and compare the result with Adobe Learning Manager.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Adobe Learning Manager data in its answers

What to check: that the Adobe Learning Manager status is "Connected" and the necessary actions are selected (for example "List User Enrollments").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using Adobe Learning Manager data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Adobe Learning Manager).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

You do not need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Adobe Learning Manager can be connected.

"Reconnect needed"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Adobe Learning Manager page under More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is resolved: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Adobe Learning Manager), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is resolved: the "Connect Adobe Learning Manager" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page. To learn how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Adobe Learning Manager again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Adobe Learning Manager yourself. More details: access levels in the team.
How to tell it's resolved: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the chat with the Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Adobe Learning Manager

On the Adobe Learning Manager page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Adobe Learning Manager?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Other common questions

Do I need a developer to integrate Adobe Learning Manager?

No. You request Adobe Learning Manager in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
