ADP Workforce Now Integration: Time Off and Requests in Chat – ADP in Binom

Updated 6 min read 10 / 19
Short answer

How to connect ADP Workforce Now to Binom: check time off balances, submit and cancel requests, and handle openings. Available on request.

The ADP Workforce Now (Next Generation) integration with Binom helps employees with time off: the AI employee checks the balance, submits and cancels time off requests, and shows open job vacancies. ADP Workforce Now is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → ADP Workforce Now.

What Binom can do in ADP Workforce Now

Binom here refers to your AI employee. Once ADP Workforce Now is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in ADP Workforce Now).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Time off Requests, settings, balances Creating and canceling a request, adjusting a balance
Long-term absences Absences Creating, changing, returning, canceling
Employees Employees, contacts, education Creating and changing
Hiring Vacancies, applications Candidate onboarding
Payroll Pay groups and periods, deductions Changing deductions

Can Binom submit a time off request in ADP Workforce Now?

Yes. Binom checks the balance ("List Time Off Balances") and time off settings ("List Time Off Configurations") and creates a request ("Create Time Off Request").

Canceling a request

If plans change, Binom cancels the request ("Cancel Time Off Request").

What access you will need

Connection method: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your service account and confirm access). You will need client keys and a certificate for a secure connection (mTLS) from ADP. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the ADP Workforce Now page in the dashboard.

How to get the ADP Workforce Now integration

ADP Workforce Now is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "ADP Workforce Now" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the ADP Workforce Now card.
  2. On the "ADP Workforce Now integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in ADP Workforce Now.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration becomes available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the ADP Workforce Now page.
  5. Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connecting ADP Workforce Now" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in ADP Workforce Now

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The workspace says so directly: "Select the actions the assistant may perform. Until you select something, it has no access to any of them."

  1. On the ADP Workforce Now page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Workers", "List Time Off Balances", "Create Time Off Request" and "Cancel Time Off Request" are enough. Add the update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom make changes in ADP Workforce Now.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new chat with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, ask about your time off balance, and compare the answer with ADP.

Possible problems

Binom does not use ADP Workforce Now data in its answers

What to check: the ADP Workforce Now status is "Connected" and the needed actions are selected (for example "List Time Off Balances").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new chat Binom answers using ADP Workforce Now data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (ADP Workforce Now).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"The integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will get a notification when ADP Workforce Now can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the ADP Workforce Now page under More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status shows "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (ADP Workforce Now) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connecting ADP Workforce Now" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open ADP Workforce Now again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect ADP Workforce Now yourself. More: team access levels.
How to tell it's resolved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem isn't resolved, email support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect ADP Workforce Now

On the ADP Workforce Now page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect ADP Workforce Now?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service.
