How to Connect a SIP Trunk So AI Can Receive and Make Calls: Binom Telephony Integration
A SIP trunk is a connection to your IP telephony provider through which Binom receives and places phone calls. Once connected, your AI employee talks to customers by phone the same way it answers in chat: using your knowledge base, around the clock. You connect the SIP trunk in Integrations → "Telephony". You will need the domain, login, and password from your provider.
What you need from your telephony provider
Get three SIP account parameters from the IP telephony provider that holds your number. Hints for these fields are shown right in your account:
| Field in Binom | What it is |
|---|---|
| Domain | The connection address issued by your provider |
| Login | The username or Auth ID used to authorize the trunk |
| Password | The access key to your SIP account |
How to connect a SIP trunk
- Open Integrations → "Telephony". The tab heading reads "Telephony integration (SIP trunk activation)".
- Fill in the "Domain", "Login", and "Password" fields.
- Click "Connect SIP trunk".
- The trunk appears in the list as "Connected trunk 1", and a "Telephony" item appears in the left menu of your account, linking to "Telephony" for launching automated outbound calling.
Multiple numbers and providers
Click "Add another trunk", fill in the fields for the new trunk, and connect it. Each trunk is configured separately. To disconnect a trunk, click "Delete" next to it and confirm.
How to check that it works
- Call the number served by the connected trunk and ask a question.
- Find the conversation in Chats: in the source filter, select "Incoming call".
- For outbound calls, create a test campaign to your own number: how to launch automated outbound calling.
Possible problems
"Failed to connect SIP trunk! Authorization parameters are invalid"
What to check: the domain, login, and password are copied without extra spaces and belong to the same SIP account.
What to do: request the SIP account parameters from your provider again and reconnect.
How to tell it is resolved: the trunk appears as "Connected trunk".
Integration not available on your current plan
What you see: the card in the Integrations catalog is grey and marked "Not available on your plan", or the tab says "Telephony integration is available on higher plans". On the free Free plan, messengers and external services cannot be connected (Free plan limitations).
How to move to the right plan:
- Find out which plan you need: in the Integrations section, hover over the grey card. The tooltip "Upgrade to plan …" will name the most affordable plan that includes the Telephony integration. For how the Free, Basic, Pro and Business plans differ, see how much Binom AI costs.
- Open Subscription. If you are on the free plan, click "Choose plan". If you are on a paid plan, click "Compare plans".
- Select a plan and a billing period (monthly, every 3 months or yearly), then click "Confirm and pay". The payment page will open.
- After payment, you will see "Subscription payment successful!" Go back to Integrations → "Telephony". The card will be marked "Available".
Want to try it first? The 7-day trial includes the features of the Basic plan. Learn how to start a subscription or a trial. If you see "Payment was not completed. Your plan has not changed" after paying, try the payment again or write to support@binomai.com with your account email and the plan you chose.
The message "You don't have permission to manage this section"
What it means: only users with Owner or Admin access for the selected Binom can set up integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you Admin access or to assign the task to them. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is resolved: after you refresh the page, the integrations catalog opens.
If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Please include the Binom name, the provider domain (without the password) and a screenshot of the error.
