Envoy Integration: Guest Invitations and Desk Booking from Chat – Envoy in Binom

Short answer

How to connect Envoy to Binom: invite a guest to the office, change or cancel an invite, and book a desk. Available on request.

The Envoy integration with Binom handles visits to your office right in the conversation: your AI employee creates an invitation for a guest, changes or cancels it, and books a desk for an employee. Envoy is available on request in your Binom account: Integrations → More integrations → Envoy.

What Binom can do in Envoy

Binom here means your AI employee. Once Envoy is connected, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the account, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Envoy).

Section What Binom can view What Binom can change
Invitations Invitations and visits Create, update, delete, check-in, recurring visits
Desks Spaces, desks, bookings Book, check in, cancel
Offices and employees Offices, employees, schedules Create schedule, check in
Security Watch list Create and update

Can a chatbot invite a guest to the office through Envoy?

Yes. Binom confirms the office ("List Locations") and the employee the guest will visit ("List Employees"), and creates the invitation ("Create Invite"). If the time changes, Binom updates it ("Update Invite") or cancels it ("Delete Invite").

Booking a desk

An employee says when they will be in the office, and Binom books a desk ("Create Reservation").

What access you will need

Connection methods to choose from: API key; login with username and password. You can use an Envoy API key or a username and password login. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" section on the Envoy page in your account.

How to get the Envoy integration

Envoy is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".

  1. Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "Envoy" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Envoy card.
  2. The "Envoy integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here means your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Envoy.
  3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." appears, and the button changes to "Requested".
  4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Envoy page.
  5. Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connecting Envoy" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete: check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

How to choose what Binom can do in Envoy

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The account states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may call. Until something is selected, it cannot use any of them."

  1. On the Envoy page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
  2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before a write or delete action, Binom will describe what it plans to do and wait for your reply.
  3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Locations", "List Employees", "Create Invite" and "Create Reservation" are enough. Add update and delete actions when you are ready to let Binom change data in Envoy.

How to check that the integration works

  • Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a public chat link, invite a test guest, and check the invitation in Envoy.
  • Delete the test invitation after the check.

Possible problems

Binom does not use Envoy data in its answers

What to check: the Envoy status is "Connected", and the needed actions are checked (for example "List Employees").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Envoy data.

"Could not save the request. Please try again."

What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Envoy).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".

"Integration is temporarily unavailable. Your request has been saved."

Nothing else is needed: your request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Envoy can be connected.

"Reconnection required"

What it means: "The service no longer accepts the saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the Envoy page in More integrations, click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status is "Connected".

"Could not start the connection. Please try again."

What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message repeats, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Envoy), and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connecting Envoy" window opens.

"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For details on what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open Envoy again.

"You do not have permission to manage this section."

What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin level or to connect Envoy themselves. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom and the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

How to disconnect Envoy

On the Envoy page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Envoy?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.

Frequently asked

Do I need a developer for the Envoy integration?

No. You request Envoy in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
