Bot Answers With Old Data: How to Check Whether Binom Learned Something New

If the bot answers based on old data, most often Binom is still learning from the new material, or the check is happening in a dialog that was already open. New documents, cards and price lists start working after processing, so check them in a new dialog. The training status is shown in the "Documents", "Cards" and "Price lists" sections.

How long to wait after adding knowledge

What you added When it starts working Where to check the status
Document After the status "Indexed". The dashboard warns: "Processing uploaded documents may take some time." Documents
Knowledge card The status changes from "Sent for training" to "Learned" Cards
Price list After processing. The dashboard warns: "Processing uploaded data may take several hours." Price lists
Google Drive files Selected files and folders are updated automatically every 15 minutes Documents

While training is in progress, a hint appears next to the Binom name in the dashboard header and in the chat input field: "Binom is learning. Please wait a few minutes".

How to properly check an update

  1. Wait for the status "Indexed" on a document or "Learned" on a card.
  2. Open a new dialog, for example, the public chat in incognito mode. The dashboard gives this direct advice: "Do not check how documents work in dialogs that are already open." An old dialog keeps the context of previous conversation and may repeat the earlier answer.
  3. Ask a question in your own words, the way a customer would.
  4. Compare the answer with the new data.

If the answer is still old in a new dialog

Old data remains in another source

What to check: whether an old version of a file is still in Documents, or whether a card with the previous answer is still in Cards.
What to do: delete the outdated document or edit the card. To make the current fact take priority over all documents, create a card, since cards take precedence over documents: how to add a knowledge card.
How to tell it is resolved: in a new dialog, Binom answers based on the new data.

Binom found a conflict

If the "Active conflicts" block on the Dashboard shows unresolved conflicts, review them: how to resolve contradictions in the knowledge base.

Document with an error

The status "Error" means the file is not used in answers: what to do with an indexing error.

If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the Binom Tutor chat. Include the Binom name, the name of the file or card, and attach a screenshot of the message.

Other common questions

How do I update the bot's knowledge?

Replace the document in Docs, edit the card in Cards, or tell Binom Tutor about the change. You don't need to retrain Binom manually, as training starts automatically.

Do I need to retrain the chatbot after changing prices?

No: upload the updated price list to Price Lists or connect a feed with daily sync, automatic updates via RSS or Google Merchant.
