How to connect X (Twitter) to Binom: reply to direct messages, track account mentions, publish posts. Available on request.
The X (Twitter) integration with Binom helps you work with your audience on X: your AI employee replies to direct messages, finds mentions of your account, and publishes posts. X (Twitter) is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → X (Twitter).
What Binom can do on X (Twitter)
Here, Binom means your AI employee. After you connect X (Twitter), it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions it can use. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data on X (Twitter)).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | Posts, search over the last 7 days, timeline, quote posts, reposts | Publishing, deleting, reposting, liking, hiding a reply |
| Direct messages | Direct messages and conversations | Sending a message |
| Users | Profiles, followers, mentions | Following, blocking, muting |
| Lists and Spaces | Lists, Spaces | Creating and editing lists |
| Media | Upload status | Uploading an image or video |
Can Binom reply to direct messages on X?
Yes. Binom reads the conversation ("Get DM Conversation Events") and replies in it ("Create DM Message By Conversation ID").
Mentions of your account
Binom finds posts that mention your account ("Get User Mentions") and can publish a reply or a new post ("Create Post").
What access you will need
You can choose how to connect: sign in with OAuth 2.0 (you log in to your X account and confirm access), or use an app token that is read-only for public data. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the X (Twitter) page in the dashboard.
How to get the X (Twitter) integration
X (Twitter) is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the guide how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, enter "X (Twitter)" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the X (Twitter) card.
- On the "X (Twitter) integration for assistant" page, you will see the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows what access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do on X (Twitter).
- Click "Request integration". You will see "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." The button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the X (Twitter) page.
- Click "Connect," complete the steps in the "Connecting X (Twitter)" window, and click "Done." After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If you see "Confirmation hasn't arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute.", click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do on X (Twitter)
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this directly: "Select the actions the assistant can use. Until you select something, it has no access to anything."
- On the X (Twitter) page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes data, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.
To get started, "Get Authenticated User", "Get User Mentions", "Get DM Events" and "Create DM Message By Conversation ID" are enough. Add the actions that change and delete data when you are ready to let Binom make changes in X (Twitter).
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example via a public chat link, send a test direct message to the account, and check the reply.
Possible problems
Binom does not use X (Twitter) data in its replies
What to check: the X (Twitter) status is "Connected" and the required actions are ticked (for example "Get User Mentions").
What to do: tick the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is fixed: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom replies using X (Twitter) data.
"Could not record the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (X (Twitter)).
How to tell it is fixed: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been recorded."
Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when X (Twitter) can be connected.
"Reconnection required"
What this means: "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
What to do: open the X (Twitter) page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it is fixed: the status shows "Connected".
"Could not start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (X (Twitter)) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it is fixed: the "Connecting X (Twitter)" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, return to More integrations and open X (Twitter) again.
"You do not have permission to manage this section."
What this means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect X (Twitter) yourself. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it is resolved: after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem is not resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the chat with Binom Tutor. Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect X (Twitter)
On the X (Twitter) page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect X (Twitter)?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the access details." Confirm, and the message "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Other common questions
How is this different from connecting messengers to Binom?
The X integration gives Binom actions in your X account. Channels for communicating with customers (Telegram, WhatsApp, and others) are connected separately, in the channels section of your dashboard.
Do I need a programmer to integrate X (Twitter)?
No. You request X (Twitter) in the Integrations → More integrations section, the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
