How to connect Zendesk to Binom: tickets created from conversations, request status, comments and tags. Available on request.
The Zendesk integration with Binom passes requests from chats to your support team: the AI employee creates a ticket with a description and priority, finds the customer's past requests, and adds comments and tags. Agents receive ready-made tickets, and the customer learns the status of their request right away. Zendesk is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Zendesk.
What Binom can do in Zendesk
Binom here refers to your AI employee. After you connect Zendesk, it calls the service's actions when the conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: read (Binom only views data), write, or delete (Binom changes or deletes data in Zendesk).
| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
|---|---|---|
| Tickets | Tickets, comments, change history, search | Create, update (status, assignment, comment), merge, delete |
| Users | Users, search by name, email, and phone number | Create and update a user |
| Organizations | Organizations, search | Create and update |
| Tags | Ticket tags, popular tags | Add, replace, delete tags |
| Groups | Agent groups and members | Create, update |
| Fields and forms | Ticket fields and forms | Create and update |
| Triggers | Automation triggers | Create and update a trigger |
| Files | Attachments | Upload a file for a comment |
Can a chatbot create a ticket in Zendesk?
Yes. Using the "Create Ticket" action, Binom creates a ticket with a subject, a description taken from the conversation, the requester, priority, and tags. Before that, Binom can find the customer ("Search Users") or create them ("Create User") so the ticket is linked to the correct requester.
Request status on the customer's request
Yes. Binom finds the ticket by search ("List Search Results") or by number ("Show Ticket") and reports its current status. If the customer adds details, Binom appends a comment to the ticket ("Update Ticket").
Sorting requests
Binom applies tags based on the conversation topic ("Add Tags") and can assign the ticket to the right group through "Update Ticket". After that, your Zendesk triggers route tickets the same way as usual.
How to get the Zendesk integration
Zendesk is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions how to connect a service from "More integrations".
- Open Integrations → More integrations, type "Zendesk" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Zendesk card.
- The "Zendesk integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." The assistant here is your Binom. The "Authentication" section shows what access will be needed, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Zendesk.
- Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
- A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Zendesk page.
- Click "Connect", go through the steps in the "Connect Zendesk" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting…", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete, so check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".
How to choose what Binom can do in Zendesk
A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard states this clearly: "Select the actions the assistant may trigger. Until something is selected, it has access to none of them."
- On the Zendesk page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
- Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
- Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms your changes.
To get started, "Search Users", "Create Ticket", "Show Ticket" and "Add Tags" are enough. Add update and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Zendesk.
How to check that the integration works
- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through the public chat link, and describe a test problem. Check that a ticket appeared in Zendesk.
- Ask for the status of the test ticket and compare it with Zendesk.
- Close or delete the test ticket after checking.
Possible issues
Binom does not use Zendesk data in its answers
What to check: the Zendesk status is "Connected", and the needed actions are selected (for example "Create Ticket").
What to do: select the actions and click "Save".
How to tell it is resolved: the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Zendesk data.
"Could not save the request. Please try again."
What to do: click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Zendesk).
How to tell it is resolved: the button shows "Requested".
"Integration is temporarily unavailable – your request has been saved."
Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Zendesk can be connected.
"Needs to be reconnected"
What it means: "The service no longer accepts saved access credentials, so the assistant can't use them."
What to do: open the Zendesk page in More integrations, click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
How to tell it's fixed: the status shows "Connected".
"Couldn't start the connection. Please try again."
What to do: click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Zendesk) and a screenshot of the message.
How to tell it's fixed: the "Connect Zendesk" window opens.
"On a paid plan" instead of the connect button
The page will say "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we'll let you know when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the plans and subscription pricing page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide how to change or upgrade your plan. After changing your plan, go back to More integrations and open Zendesk again.
"You don't have permission to manage this section."
What it means: only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
What to do: ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Zendesk themselves. More details: access levels in a team.
How to tell it's fixed: after refreshing the page, the integration settings open.
If the problem isn't solved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a human" in the Tutor chat. Include the name of your Binom, the integration, and a screenshot of the message.
How to disconnect Zendesk
On the Zendesk page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Zendesk?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you'll need to reconnect the integration and enter the access credentials again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.
Other common questions
Do I need a developer to integrate Zendesk?
