# Booking Customers Into Outlook Calendar From Chat: Outlook Calendar Integration in Binom

*Updated: 21.10.2026, 11:53 UTC*

The Outlook Calendar integration records clients in your Microsoft 365 calendar: the AI employee checks availability, creates a meeting with the client, and reschedules or cancels it. Outlook Calendar is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Outlook Calendar.

## What Binom can do with Outlook Calendar

Binom here refers to your AI employee. Once Outlook Calendar is connected, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: **read** (Binom only views data), **write**, or **delete** (Binom changes or deletes data in Outlook Calendar).

| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Events | Calendar events, attachments | Create, edit, cancel, reschedule, respond to invitations, forward |
| Calendars | Calendars and calendar groups, view by dates | Create and edit |
| Users | Organization users | No |

## Can a chatbot book a client into Outlook Calendar?

Yes. Binom checks events on the required dates ("Get My Calendar View"), finds a free slot, and creates a meeting ("Create Event In My Default Calendar") with the client.

## Rescheduling and cancelling a meeting

At the client's request, Binom changes the meeting time ("Update Event In My Calendar") or cancels it ("Cancel My Event").

## How is this different from booking through Google Calendar?

Built-in [online booking via Google Calendar](https://binomai.com/faq/google-calendar-booking-setup/) works with Google. The Outlook Calendar integration is needed if your calendar is in Microsoft 365.

## What access you will need

Connection method: sign-in via OAuth 2.0 (you sign in to your service account and confirm access). Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Outlook Calendar page in the dashboard.

## How to get the Outlook Calendar integration

Outlook Calendar is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. General catalog rules are described in the guide [how to connect a service from "More integrations"](https://binomai.com/faq/connect-service-to-chatbot/).

1. Open [Integrations → More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), enter "Outlook Calendar" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Outlook Calendar card.
2. The "Outlook Calendar integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now, and we will set it up for you as a priority." Here, the assistant is your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Outlook Calendar.
3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Outlook Calendar page.
5. Click "Connect," go through the steps in the "Connecting Outlook Calendar" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting...", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete; check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

## How to choose what Binom can do in Outlook Calendar

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard says it plainly: "Select the actions the assistant may perform. Until you select something, it has access to none of them."

1. On the Outlook Calendar page, check the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any write or delete action, Binom describes what it is about to do and waits for your reply.
3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "Get My Calendar View", "Create Event In My Default Calendar", "Update Event In My Calendar" and "Cancel My Event" are enough. Add the update and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Outlook Calendar.

## How to check that the integration works

- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a [public chat link](https://binomai.com/faq/public-chat-link/), and ask it to book the nearest free time slot. Check the event in Outlook.
- Delete the test event after checking.

## Possible problems

### Binom does not use Outlook Calendar data in its answers

**What to check:** that the Outlook Calendar status is "Connected" and the required actions are selected (for example "Create Event In My Default Calendar").
**What to do:** select the actions and click "Save".
**How to tell it is fixed:** the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Outlook Calendar data.

### "Could not record the request. Please try again."

**What to do:** click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Outlook Calendar).
**How to tell it is fixed:** the button shows "Requested".

### "Integration is temporarily unavailable - your request has been recorded."

Nothing else is needed: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Outlook Calendar can be connected.

### "Reconnection required"

**What it means:** "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
**What to do:** open the Outlook Calendar page in [More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), click "Reconnect" and go through the connection window again.
**How to tell it is fixed:** the status shows "Connected".

### "Could not start the connection. Please try again."

**What to do:** click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Outlook Calendar) and a screenshot of the message.
**How to tell it is fixed:** the "Connecting Outlook Calendar" window opens.

### "On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will notify you when it launches." For what each plan includes, see the [plans and subscription pricing](https://app.binomai.com/plans) page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide [how to change or upgrade your plan](https://binomai.com/faq/change-subscription-plan/). After changing your plan, return to [More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14) and open Outlook Calendar again.

### "You do not have permission to manage this section."

**What this means:** only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
**What to do:** ask the account owner to give you the Admin access level or to connect Outlook Calendar yourself. More details: [access levels in a team](https://binomai.com/faq/kak-raspredelit-obyazannosti-v-komande-s-pomoshhyu-pyati-urovnej-dostupa-owner-admin-editor-operator-viewer/).
**How to tell it's resolved:** after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem isn't resolved, write to support@binomai.com or send "I want to talk to a person" in the chat with [Binom Tutor](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/binom-tutor-stream). Include the name of the Binom, the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

## How to disconnect Outlook Calendar

On the Outlook Calendar page, click "Disconnect". The "Disconnect Outlook Calendar?" window will show a warning: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to connect the integration again and re-enter the credentials." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

## Other frequently asked questions

### Do I need a programmer to integrate Outlook Calendar?

No. You request Outlook Calendar in [Integrations → More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
