# Microsoft Teams Integration: Notify Your Team About Chat Requests - Teams in Binom

*Updated: 22.10.2026, 10:21 UTC*

The Microsoft Teams integration connects customer conversations with your team: the AI employee sends a message to a Teams channel or chat about a new request or a complex question, and replies in the discussion thread. Microsoft Teams is available on request in the Binom dashboard: Integrations → More integrations → Microsoft Teams.

## What Binom can do in Microsoft Teams

Binom here refers to your AI employee. After you connect Microsoft Teams, it calls the service's actions when a conversation needs that data. You decide which actions are available to it. In the dashboard, each action is labeled: **read** (Binom only views data), **write**, or **delete** (Binom changes or deletes data in Microsoft Teams).

| Section | What Binom can view | What Binom can change |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Channels | Channels, messages and replies, members | Channel message, reply in a thread, editing a message |
| Chats | Chats and messages | Creating a chat, message |
| Teams | Teams and members | Creating, editing, adding members |
| Users | Users | Creating, deleting |

## Can Binom notify the team in Teams about a new request?

Yes. When a customer submits a request or asks a question that requires a person, Binom sends a message to the appropriate channel ("Send Channel Message") or to the employee's personal chat ("Send Chat Message").

## Replying in a discussion thread

Binom adds details to the message thread ("Send Message Reply") so that the entire customer history is in one place.

## What access you will need

Connection options to choose from: sign in with OAuth 2.0 (you sign in to your service account and confirm access); OAuth 2.0 with client keys; OAuth 2.0 with a Teams bot. You will need an app registered in Microsoft Entra ID. Details for each method are shown in the "Authentication" block on the Microsoft Teams page in the dashboard.

## How to get the Microsoft Teams integration

Microsoft Teams is connected on request: first, the Binom team sets up the integration for your account. The general catalog rules are described in the instructions [how to connect a service from "More integrations"](https://binomai.com/faq/connect-service-to-chatbot/).

1. Open [Integrations → More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), enter "Microsoft Teams" in the "Search integrations" field, and open the Microsoft Teams card.
2. The "Microsoft Teams integration for assistant" page will show the message "Integration is available on request. Request it now and we will set it up for you as a priority." Assistant here means your Binom. The "Authentication" block shows which access you will need, and the "Actions" list shows everything Binom can do in Microsoft Teams.
3. Click "Request integration". The message "Request sent. You will receive a notification when the integration is available." will appear, and the button will change to "Requested".
4. A Binom setup specialist will contact you. When the integration is ready, a "Connect" button will appear on the Microsoft Teams page.
5. Click "Connect," complete the steps in the "Connecting Microsoft Teams" window, and click "Done". After "Connecting...", the status will change to "Connected". If the message "Confirmation has not arrived yet. The connection may still complete; check again in a minute." appears, click "Check again".

## How to choose what Binom can do in Microsoft Teams

A connected integration does nothing until you allow actions. The dashboard says it directly: "Check the actions that the assistant may perform. Until something is checked, none of them is available to it."

1. On the Microsoft Teams page, tick the actions you need in the "Actions" list. The "Filter by actions" field helps you find them by name. The counter shows how many are selected.
2. Check the "Ask before changing data" toggle. It is on by default: before any action that writes or deletes data, Binom will describe what it is about to do and wait for your reply.
3. Click "Save". The message "Allowed actions saved" confirms the changes.

To start, "List Teams", "List Channels", "Send Channel Message" and "Send Message Reply" are enough. Add the change and delete actions when you are ready to trust Binom with changes in Microsoft Teams.

## How to check that the integration works

- Start a new conversation with your Binom, for example through a [public chat link](https://binomai.com/faq/public-chat-link/), leave a test request, and check the message in the Teams channel.

## Possible problems

### Binom does not use Microsoft Teams data in its answers

**What to check:** the Microsoft Teams status is "Connected", and the necessary actions are checked (for example "List Channels").
**What to do:** check the actions and click "Save".
**How to tell it is resolved:** the message "Allowed actions saved" appears, and in a new conversation Binom answers using Microsoft Teams data.

### "Could not record the request. Please try again."

**What to do:** click "Request integration" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom and the integration (Microsoft Teams).
**How to tell it is resolved:** the button shows "Requested".

### "Integration is temporarily unavailable - your request has been recorded."

You don't need to do anything else: the request is saved, and you will receive a notification when Microsoft Teams can be connected.

### "Reconnection required"

**What this means:** "The service no longer accepts saved access, so the assistant does not use it."
**What to do:** open the Microsoft Teams page in [More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), click "Reconnect", and go through the connection window again.
**How to tell it is resolved:** the status shows "Connected".

### "Could not start the connection. Please try again."

**What to do:** click "Connect" again. If the message keeps appearing, write to support@binomai.com with the name of your Binom, the integration (Microsoft Teams), and a screenshot of the message.
**How to tell it is resolved:** the "Connect Microsoft Teams" window opens.

### "On a paid plan" instead of the connect button

The page will show "Available on a paid plan. Tell us what you need, and we will let you know when it launches." For what the plans include, see the [plans and subscription prices](https://app.binomai.com/plans) page, and for how to change your plan, see the guide [how to change or upgrade your plan](https://binomai.com/faq/change-subscription-plan/). After changing your plan, return to [More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14) and open Microsoft Teams again.

### "You do not have permission to manage this section."

**What this means:** only users with the Owner or Admin access level can manage integrations.
**What to do:** ask the account owner to grant you the Admin access level or to connect Microsoft Teams yourself. Learn more: [access levels in your team](https://binomai.com/faq/kak-raspredelit-obyazannosti-v-komande-s-pomoshhyu-pyati-urovnej-dostupa-owner-admin-editor-operator-viewer/).
**How to tell it's resolved:** after you refresh the page, the integration settings open.

If the problem persists, write to support@binomai.com or message [Binom Tutor](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/binom-tutor-stream) with "I want to talk to a person". Include your Binom name and the integration, and attach a screenshot of the message.

## How to disconnect Microsoft Teams

On the Microsoft Teams page, click "Disconnect". A warning will appear in the "Disconnect Microsoft Teams?" window: "The assistant will lose access to the service. To restore it, you will need to reconnect the integration and enter the access details again." Confirm, and "Integration disconnected" will appear.

## Other common questions

### Does this integration replace connecting Binom to messaging apps?

No. The Teams integration is for messaging your team. Customer communication channels are connected separately in the Channels section of your account.

### Do I need a developer to integrate Microsoft Teams?

No. You request Microsoft Teams in [Integrations → More integrations](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/integrations?tab=14), the Binom team sets up the integration, and then you connect the account yourself and choose the actions.
