# How does automatic data updating via RSS or Google Merchant Feed work, and is it necessary to retrain the AI employee afterward?

*Updated: 19.10.2026, 17:54 UTC*

Automatic updating via RSS or Google Merchant Feed operates as follows:

- **How it works:** You connect a link to an XML file (RSS) or an existing Google Merchant product feed in the **Price Lists** section. The AI employee regularly receives up-to-date information on product ranges, prices, availability, and specifications directly from your infrastructure.
- **Update frequency:** Data via RSS/XML is synchronized every 15 minutes, while Google Merchant updates once a day.
- **Retraining:** Re-training the AI employee is not required. It automatically picks up all changes in the price list and immediately begins using the updated information in conversations right after synchronization.
- **Availability:** This automation feature is available on **Pro** and **Business** pricing plans.

## Updated on 19.10.26

Automatic updates via RSS or Google Merchant Feed work as follows:

- **How it works:** You connect a link to an XML file (RSS) or an existing Google Merchant product feed in the Price Lists section. The AI employee starts regularly receiving up-to-date data on your range, prices, stock levels and product details directly from your infrastructure.
- **Update frequency:** Data from **RSS/XML** and from **Google Merchant** syncs **once a day**.
- **Training:** You **don't need** to retrain the AI employee. It automatically picks up all changes to the price list and starts using the current information in conversations right after the sync.

## What a product feed is and which one to choose

A product feed is a file with a list of products that a website or store updates automatically: name, price, availability, link and photo. Binom pulls the feed by its link, so prices and stock levels in replies update without manual uploads.

| | RSS | Google Merchant |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Button in [Price Lists](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/prices) | "Add RSS price list" | "Add Google Merchant" |
| Format | XML feed following the RSS 2.0 specification with the tags <id>, <title>, <description>, <link>, <price>, <category>, <image_link> | The feed you already send to Google Merchant |
| Sync (dashboard hint) | "...we sync the information once a day." | "Information syncs once a day." |

## How to connect a feed

1. Open [Price Lists](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/prices) and click "Add RSS price list" or "Add Google Merchant".
2. Paste the feed link into the "RSS URL" or "Google Merchant" field and click "Add".
3. The source will appear under "Data sources": "Pending" → "Processing" → "Processed". The first processing can take several hours.
4. Check the products in the "Products" table and ask about a price in a new conversation.

If a source shows the status "Error", open the feed link in your browser and make sure it is accessible without logging in and returns the file in the correct format. Then delete the source and add the link again. If you don't have a feed, upload your catalog as a spreadsheet: [add products manually or via CSV](https://binomai.com/faq/what-to-do-if-the-company-does-not-have-an-automated-catalog-can-product-data-be-uploaded-manually-or-via-a-spreadsheet/).

Feed buttons unavailable? Hover over them and the tooltip will tell you the reason. For plan details, see the [plans and subscription pricing](https://app.binomai.com/plans) page.

## Frequently asked

### What is an XML product feed?

A catalog file in XML format that a website generates automatically. Binom supports RSS 2.0. Connect it in [Price Lists](https://app.binomai.com/cabinet/binom/prices) with the "Add RSS price list" button.

### How do I set up automatic price updates and stock sync?

Connect the feed by following the steps above, and Binom will pull prices and stock levels on its own. A store on Horoshop connects separately: [Horoshop integration](https://binomai.com/faq/horoshop-integraciya-chat-bot/).
